WOW! Check Out this Extremely Rare Fire Rainbow that Appeared Over South Carolina (PICS)
Many of you, like us, have never heard of a fire rainbow. We would have never known such a thing existed had it not crossed the Twitter feed.
But sure enough… its the real deal.
Heres what Justin Lock of the local NBC 12 said about the rare event.
To produce the rainbow colors the suns rays must enter the ice crystals at a precise angle to give the prism effect of the color spectrum. The sun must be at an altitude of at least 58 degrees above the horizon. Again, it has to do with getting the precise angle.
The fire rainbow pictured below showed up over South Carolinas Isle of Palms. Quite a beauty!
